I followed my guys around with the reflector this evening, trying to practice and get comfortable using it. I really love how it tranforms photos - really fills in the face nicely. I tried mostly the gold side for a nice warm look. And Jeff, I'm getting MUCH better at folding it!!

I was horrified when I realized I hadn't dragged my guys into the studio since November, when I took their holiday card portrait. My how time flies! I try to get them in every few months - photos make the best gifts for grandparents!
My friend let me practice on her newborn boy -- I have never done a baby younger than a few weeks old. It was fun to experiment! He was so sweet. My favorite shot from the whole session is the one of mom & baby; the look on his face is pure bliss.
My friend kindly let me practice on her two girls at the playground -- to give me needed outdoor experience. I got a lot more than I thought, and here are a few sneak peeks. I learned an important lesson - it sure is hard using a reflector with 2 active kids! Next time, I'll try holding a fill flash.
Still practicing shooting outside - here I have my flash at the lowest setting - it was dusk so I definitely needed it, but I'm trying to make it not look so "flashy" - where you can tell a flash was used. My little guy is usually up for photos....
...but sometimes he can't take it anymore!
